Lady Bearcats start season with a win, then a loss

The Lady Bearcats’ volleyball team swept San Manuel in its season opener at home last week, 3 – 0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-6). They wound up on the other end in their next match, getting swept 3 – 0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-15) by Valley Union.

In the win against the Miners, junior Stormee Galka did it all, leading the team with eight kills, four aces, one block, and one dig. Senior Sabrina Martinez tallied four kills in the match. Senior Sidney Chenoweth led the Lady Bearcats in serving with 15 points.

The Lady ‘Cats return to the court on September 9 at home versus Gilbert Classical Academy. Upcoming schedule: September 11 @ Ft. Thomas and September 12 @ Patagonia. All matches are scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
