The Bearcats girls’ basketball team will face Desert Christian in the first round of the Division IV State Championship Tournament. The game will take place at Prescott High School on Feb. 21, 2014. It is scheduled to tipoff at 3 p.m.

The ‘Cats enter the tournament with a record of 13 – 15 and coming off a loss in the first round of their sectional tournament against Joseph City. Sideny Chenoweth, Savannah Willis, and Stormee Galka will lead the ‘Cats as they look to advance with a win versus the Eagles.

Desert Christian enters the tournament with a record of 18 – 10 and, like the Bearcats, is coming off a loss in the first round of its sectional tournament. The Eagles are led by a couple of sophomores, Brynn Matthias and Hannah Bjorgum. Both players average around 8 points per game. Bjorgum leads the team in rebounding with an average of 6 per game.

The winner of this game will face seventh-seeded St. David on Feb. 22 at Yavapai Community College.

The Ray boys were also on the court last week in Miami for a sectional matchup with Mogollon where they lost a heartbreaker 72-76.
