Kearny – Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock! Rock your way to the former Ray cafeteria ramada to experience Winter Wonderland 2013 on Sat., Dec. 7.

Shop with your local entrepreneurs who will be selling jewelry, crocheted towels and scarves, hand crafted wood projects, In Memory ornaments and much more. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

The fun begins at 11 am, when the vendors and craft tables open. For $1 children will be able to engage in a variety of Christmas crafts, including decorating Christmas stockings, beading, pompom projects, and a candy cane reindeer. It is anticipated that Event Wizards will be present with games where everyone wins a prize.

At 2 pm, Santa Claus comes to town. The jolly elder gentleman will arrive with his wife by helicopter, courtesy of Native Air. Afterward they will be escorted by Junior Chamber elves, the Grinch, and Marvin, the Christmas Moose.

From 3 pm – 7 pm, the Cardells will perform. The Idol Show will start at 5 pm. The Electric Light Parade begins at 6 pm. Awards will be presented after the parade at the Old Cafeteria in the Ray School Ramada. Finally, at 8 pm, Smurfs 2 will be shown, courtesy of the Kearny Elks Lodge.

Join in the spirit of Christmas and prepare a float for the Electric Light Parade. Check with Anna Flores at the Kearny Town Hall for entry information. It can be individuals, bikes, wagons, single vehicles, motorcycles, or a regular float. Be sure your lights have sufficient batteries so you do not have to march in the dark.

Sign in for the parade on Allen Street across the highway before 5:30 pm. It is important that entries are there early. Unregistered late comers are placed at the end and possibly might not get announced as they pass the judges stand.

The parade will start on Allen, cross highway 177 to Upton, and take a right on Alden. Each entry will then stop before the judges stand to perform and be evaluated. They will then proceed to Tilbury and continue down to the 400 block of Danbury and will turn right, and proceed up Danbury to the Ray cafeteria ramada where winners will be announced.

Luminarios and Love Light angels, in honor or memory of someone special, may be purchased that day and even decorated in preparation for the Love Light ceremony to be held on Alden Street, Fri., Dec. 20.

Volunteers are being sought for the children’s craft tables and to help with other necessary work to get the day going.
