Kearny residents wake up to a very dark Black Friday

Snowy weather for Oracle Residents.

The much anticipated big storm hit Arizona like a freight train after midnight after Thanksgiving.  For residents of Kearny, it truly was a black Friday with power being out throughout Kearny starting at 6 a.m. and ended around 2 p.m. for the majority of the customers.

Storm related damage to a transformer caused Arizona Public Service to lose an electric feed that is owned by another utility company is what caused the eight-hour outage.  At one point Arizona Public Service had 28,000 customers without power throughout the state of Arizona due to the storm.

The National Weather Service reported that multiple tornados touched ground in the Valley and ADOT closed many of the roads in Northern Arizona.  Fortunately U.S. Hwy. 60 and Highway 177 and 77 were able to remain open and plows kept rocks off the roads.

Another mild storm is expected on Wednesday.
