Kearny resident victim of internet job scam

On March 22, 2013, PCSO received a call from a resident in the unincorporated part of Kearny. The resident wanted to work from home and found a job posted on CareerBuilder.com for a “parcel forwarding contractor.” After applying for the job, the resident received a lengthy job description with details about compensation.

Packages started arriving for the resident to forward, but no compensation was actually given to the resident. Concerned about the situation and before one package had been forwarded, the resident contacted Kearny Police and Pinal County Sheriff’s Office. PCSO’s Criminal Investigation Bureau began looking into the situation and confirmed that the packages contained stolen property.

PCSO is continuing to investigate this case.

Residents are encouraged to vet opportunities carefully. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Exercise caution.
