Mic Johnson, a resident of Kearny since 1959 when he went to work at Kennecott, will be honored as a “Hero” at the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson this Friday Sept. 18, 2015.
He is being honored on National P.O.W./Missing in Action (POW/MIA) Day. The event is being sponsored by Davis Monthan Air Force Base.
Mic was a POW during World War II. He was captured by the Japanese on Wake Island and spent the entire war in a number of Japanese prison camps in China, Korea and Japan, enduring the hardships and brutalities of the camps.
