Kearny Police Department Update: Corso Resigns – Sgt. Blue remains Interim Chief

The Town of Kearny held a special town council meeting to address the investigation of Chief Corso on Wednesday. Corso resigned his position with the Kearny Police Department stating on Facebook that he was not willing to work as an officer under Sgt. Blue. The Council voted to keep Sgt. Blue as the interim Police chief at this time.

Corso took to Facebook earlier in the week sharing the outcome of his investigation that was conducted by the Department of Public Safety. Normally these outcomes are kept private to protect both parties, however the subject of the investigation chose to share them publicly on social media. There were six allegations brought forward on Corso three of which were supported by DPS. Those allegations were: Alcohol abuse, unable to perform job duties, failure to follow directions from a supervisor, engaging in behavior that brings discredit to the town. Other allegations that were not supported were: making threats against the Town Manager, Mayor and council, releasing protected information shared in executive session, hiring new employees without going through the Town Manager.
