Kearny Elks hosts the East District Hoop Shoot

On Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, the Kearny Elks Lodge hosted the 42 annual East District Hoop Shoot. There were 38 shooters that participated that took first place in their local Hoop Shoots, and from nine different Elks Lodges.

In the 8 and 9 year old boys, Cruz Morales from Kearny took 5th place, and Amariz Ochoa took 2nd. In the 10-11 boys, Derek Figueroa from Kearny took 3rd and in the 10-11 girls, Briana Goad took 3rd place. In the 12 and 13 boys, Anthony Lopez from Kearny placed 5th and Myranda Figueroa, from Kearny took first place in the 12-13 year old girls. The first place winners will advance on to the State competition that will be held in Apache Junction on Saturday February 8.

The Kearny Elks Lodge would like to thank Ray Schools for providing the gym, to Ray Schools Superintendent Curt Cook for taking the time to set up the Gym and to Old Time Pizza and Gordon’s IGA for their contributions.
