Juan Antonio Lopez

Juan Antonio Lopez, better known as “Tony,” was born in Reading, Pennsylvania to parents Wilfredo “Freddie” Lopez and Ileana Cappas (Mathews) on Oct. 25, 1981. He was tragically and senselessly taken from his loved ones on Nov. 3, 2018. He was 37 years old.

Tony moved to Kearny as a baby at just a year old. He grew up in Kearny where he attended school at Ray. He enjoyed life and everything it had to offer. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, but most of all he enjoyed his children. They were all he truly needed in life and he lived every single moment of his being just for them. Never did you see him without one, two, or possibly all five of his children hanging on him. He was and still is the true meaning of a father and exemplified how a father should be.

Tony had many jobs throughout the years, most recent being an employee of ASARCO Hayden Smelter.

Tony was a kind, gentle, and humble man. He always had a smile on his face. Very young in life he showed that anger, resentment, jealousy, and hate were things he wanted no part of. He always gave and showed others compassion, kindness, forgiveness, and love even when they were the ones causing his stress and heartache.

Tony was preceded in death by his fathers Freddie Lopez Sr. and Jack Mathews, and cousin Maria Heidi Contreras.

Tony leaves behind his 5 children, Kiana, Jaydah, Nicholas, Darrion, and Celeste; his mother Ileana Mathews of Globe; his siblings, Freddie Lopez Jr. (Hope) of Phoenix, Yvette Montijo (Patrick) of Hayden, Reggie Lopez of Globe, Mannie Lopez of Kingman, Jose Lopez of Florence, and Juan Lopez of North Carolina. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Tony was loved and adored by everyone who knew him. He will be missed, but will never be forgotten.

Services for Tony will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. They will take place in the Griffith Mortuary Chapel at 101 Johnston Dr. Kearny, AZ 85137.

In lieu of flowers, there is an account for donations to his family set up at Ray Federal Credit Union, 112 Williams Lane, PO Box 1089, Kearny, AZ 85137. They can be brought into the Superior or Kearny location, or mailed to the PO Box reference “Tony Lopez Donation Fund”.

Griffith Mortuary is providing exceptional family service. 101 Johnston Dr., Kearny, AZ 85137. Ph. (520) 363-5353. GriffithMortuary.com.
