The Jr. Bearcats suffered their second shutout loss of the season last week, losing to the Jr. Miners at San Manuel, 22 – 0.
Poor execution, inconsistent blocking, and the Jr. Miners’ defense contributed to the Jr. ‘Cats not being able to move the ball the offense, according to head coach Frank Lechuga.
After the loss, Lechuga said the team returned to practice later in the week to refocus on blocking and tackling.
“We’re trying to get back to where we were in the two games that we won,” he said. “(We need) to fire off the ball and be aggressive.”
Fullback Romeo Varley played well, late in last week’s game. He was one of only a few bright spots in the game. It was just a matter of too little, too late. Varley’ performance gives the team a reason to be encouraged going into this week’s game versus undefeated Globe.
