Jo Buttery honored by Rotary; Student Rotarians announced

Josephine “Jo” Buttery is leaving the Tri-Community Rotary Club after serving the club and community for 18 years. Jo joined Rotary in 1997. She said that 1997 was a good year for her. She got married and joined Rotary. Jo said, “I enjoyed being in Rotary.” She added that she will still be around and help Rotary when she can. She has already volunteered to work the concession stand at the annual Rotary Track Meet.

President of Rotary Benny DeSantiago thanked Jo for her service to Rotary and the community. “We appreciate what you did for the community and in keeping the tradition of Rotary going,” he said. Benny presented her with a plaque honoring her service from 1997-2015.

The Student Rotarians for March were Samantha Sampson and Colton Stratton both seniors at San Manuel High School. Samantha is active in extra curricular activities at the school. She participates in cheer, basketball and is manager of the girl’s softball team. She volunteers around the community and school. She helps Lisa Armenta at Community Schools. She plans on continuing her education and would like to attend Central Arizona College and pursue a career as a medical assistant working with athletes.

Colton Stratton works with Community Schools. He participates in cross country, track and was manager for the basketball team. He volunteers in the community and with the school. He is undecided about what he wants to study but would like to attend the University of Arizona.
