Infant Toddler Mental Health Coalition offers free training opportunity in Globe

CASA of Gila County

Globe –  There will be free training opportunities in Globe from The Infant-Toddler Mental Health Coalition of Arizona, on Friday, March 16, starting at 10 a.m. Daycare will not be provided.

  This event, sponsored by CASA of Gila County and the National CASA Association, will be held at High Desert Middle School, 4000 High Desert Dr. in Globe. If you wish to attend R.S.V.P. to Emily Leverance, CASA Coordinator  at  eleverance@courts.az.gov or  928-402-4427.

From 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Autism will be the subject. How do you diagnose autism? Is it possible to diagnose an 18-month old, and, why would you want to? These questions, and more, will be answered during this presentation by Bob Klaehn, M.D.

  Bob Klaehn is an M.D. Board Certified Child Psychiatrist and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP). He is also the Medical Director of Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, assisting in benefit management for children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

  Advocating for Young Children in Foster Care will be led by Genett Tomko from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Attend this presentation to explore the unique emotional needs of young children in foster care and identify opportunities to support and advocate for them.

   Genett Tomko,  MSW, LCSW, IMH-E (III) Child Therapist and Clinical Supervisor specializing in treatment services for children birth to 5 years old,  has been working with children in foster care   for 18 years.  Genett is also the Chair of Training & Education for the Infant/Toddler Mental Health Coalition of AZ.

  Interested in having an information booth at this event? There are a few things you might need to know before deciding to pursue this interest.  Agencies are asked to only provide items and information that are free. Agency table arrangements will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. You must fill out an application form and return it to CASA of Gila County staff no later than Friday, March 9 by mailing it to CASA of Gila County 1400 E. Ash St.  Globe, A 85501 or email it to Emily Leverance at eleverance@courts.az.gov. You may also contact Emily for more information.
