Immigration and the local miners

Funny. Not funny, Ha Ha! Just odd.

You read about it in the newspaper and hear about it on TV or on the radio, the presidential candidates talking about immigration. They talk about building a fence on our southern border. Immigrants come from all over not just Mexico. Not all Illegals swim across a river, climb over or under a fence. Many immigrants enter legally through visas. Travel visas, work visas and some stay after their visas run out, making them illegal.

I understand some companies hire contractors from out of the country to come into the U.S. to do work. Resolution Copper hired Cementation, a Canadian company, to sink the number ten shaft. They brought in Canadian miners, experienced shaft sinkers brought in to help sink the shaft. They also hired local miners, both experienced and inexperienced, which was great. That is what they said they would do.

The shaft is done and a small group of miners, mechanics and electricians were kept to maintain the shaft and mine. I hear Cementation has a supervisor from Canada in charge of the small group of miners. Really, Resolution Copper and Cementation couldn’t find someone local for the job? Maybe the politicians should be told not all migrants who take away American jobs come from Mexico.
