Everyone has homecoming memories – it is a week of traditions, school spirit and of course football. While this year’s football season was tough for the Panthers, that did not deter the SHS Student Council from organizing a super homecoming for everyone to enjoy. This year the theme for Homecoming was “Super Heroes”, and Superior’s super heroes took some time to get involved.

The Student Council reached out to the community and encouraged local groups and businesses to participate in the annual homecoming parade. The 19 entry parade traveled down Main St. then to the football field. The award winning float was put together by the Superior Head Start. The Resolution Copper float had a special guest on their float; it was not a bird or a plane, but Superman who joined the parade and the Optimist Club had their secret weapon out and about, and that was their Bat-Mobile. Each of the classes constructed full floats for their parade entry, Superman, Batman and other superheroes were featured on the floats.

Throughout the week the students participated in trivia games, dress up days, Jock Volleyball and the always fun PowderPuff Football game. After it was all said and done the SHS Senior Class won the spirit stick for having the most participation during spirit week.

Throughout the week the students and staff were anticipating the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen. At half time of the football game the winners were announced, Adrian Johnson and Amber Hernandez were named King and Queen. Their senior court members are: Christopher Villaverde and Ariel Alonzo and Caesar Villalobos and Maria Barreras. Underclassmen royalty were: Juniors: Quinten Walters and Angela Campos, Sophmores: Andrew Lopez and Phalicitee Thomas, Freshman: Steven Byrd and Marie Moreno.

The SHS Student Council is currently lead by these up and coming young wonder women: Cierra Navarette, Student Body President; Megan Mashaw, Treasurer; Hunter Flanagan, Secretary; Lindsay Duarte, Publicist; Mariza Padilla, Parlimentarian. Their sponsor is Ryan Palmer.
