Saturday, Dec. 1, Crèche (Nativity) Display in San Manuel. The Tri-Community Crèche (Nativity) Display will be open to the public on Dec.1 from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Dec. 2 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a special musical program at 5:30 p.m. and a Christmas message from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 101 N. Giffin Ave., San Manuel.  For more information, or to volunteer, or to display a nativity set, please call Dorothy Staggs at 896-9780.

Saturday, Dec. 1, Winter Wonderland in Kearny. Event begins at 11 a.m. in Kearny at the big school ramada. There will be games, karaoke, dance party, food booths and more. Santa arrives at 2 p.m. and the electric light parade will begin at 6 p.m. (See related story.)

Saturday, Dec. 1, Miracle on Main St. in Superior. Event begins at 3 p.m. at the Besich Park in Superior. There will be booths, games, entertainment and a cookie contest. The electric light parade will begin after dark, escorting Santa to the park so he can meet with all the boys and girls. (See related story.)

Sunday, Dec. 2, Phoenix Boys Choir in Miami at 3:30 p.m. The Globe-Miami Community Concert Association will present the Phoenix Boys Choir at the Miami High School Auditorium. The Phoenix Boys Choir was founded in 1947, has programs featuring training in voice, music theory, and performance for boys age 7 to 14.  To learn more about this group go to www.boyschoir.org. Saturday, Dec. 8, Annual Christmas Light Parade in Globe. Come to downtown Globe for the annual light parade at 6 pm with your family and friends. This year’s theme is “There’s No Place Like Home…Christmas in Copper County.” The parade begins at 7 p.m. and will be held in historic downtown Globe (Broad Street). Saturday, Dec. 15, 18th Annual Prayer Event. The Virgen de Guadalupe 18th Annual Prayer Event, hosted by JoAnn and Braulio Amavisca, will be on Sat., Dec. 15, 1 p.m. at 419 W. Quarelli St., in Winkelman. All are welcome.

Saturday, Dec. 15, Christmas Light Parade in Hayden-Winkelman. The parade starts at 6 p.m. and the parade route weaves through San Pedro to Hayden and through Winkelman.

Sunday, Dec. 23, Annual Festival of Lights at the Besh-Ba-Gowah Pueblo in Globe at 5 p.m. The annual “noche las luminarias” at the Besh-Ba-Gowah pueblo archaeological park in Globe, AZ, is Sunday, December 23, 2012 – complete with hot cider, coffee and cookies, live music and photos with Santa. Wednesday, Dec. 26, Christmas Bird Count at the Arboretum. Skilled birders are needed as volunteers for the annual Audubon Society Christmas Bird Count. Boyce Thompson Arboretum volunteer Cynthia Donald coordinates the Superior count circle which begins at Queen Valley and Whitlow Dam to the west and extends to the Oak Flat campground above the town of Superior to the east, encompassing Hewitt Station Road and “Area 51” around Montana Mountain, also Queen Creek upstream of the Arboretum, Arnett Creek and Canyon, Picketpost Mountain, and ‘urban birding’ around the town of Superior.
