This past weekend, the Comets competed at the 2013 Arizona Team America’s Cup Qualifier at Valley Vista High School in Phoenix.

The winners of the High School and Junior High School divisions will be making up an all-star team (Team Arizona) for The America’s Cup held in Anaheim, California on May 25. Teams made up of the best wrestlers from all across the country show up for this annual event.

“The boys did a great job against top competition,” said head coach Daniel Najera. “Ruben has been turning it up at practice and it showed this weekend. It’s nice to see our boys compete and beat these big schools. The hard work they’re putting in will definitely pay off next season”

Individual results are:

• Ruben Hernandez – Champion

• Franky Renteria – 2nd place

• Max Fisher – 2nd place
