Herminia M. Sandoval

Herminia M. Sandoval, (Minuta, Minnie, Grandma Great), of San Antonio, TX, went Home to the Lord on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the age of 95, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Sandoval, three brothers and two sisters.

Mr. and Mrs. Sandoval were both longtime residents of Sonora and Kearny. She was born in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, on October 12, 1919, and married Charlie Sandoval in November 1940. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Kearny in 1990, with a mass, reception, and dance.

She is survived by her children, Jessie Casillas and her husband Charles; Richard Sandoval and his wife Connie; Alice Casillas and her husband Robert; and Betty Johnson, all of San Antonio. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, most of whom live in San Antonio. She is also survived by a sister, Lucia Sandoval of Tempe, widow of Raul Sandoval, both also prior residents of Kearny. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Charlie retired from Kennecott Copper where he worked as a pipefitter. She was known as an excellent seamstress, and they both had many friends during the time they lived in Sonora and Kearny.

A rosary was held on Aug. 3, 2015, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma, TX, a suburb of San Antonio. The funeral mass was held on Aug. 4 at the same church, followed by the funeral procession to the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum in San Antonio.
