Henry Gaona Pierson

  Henry Gaona Pierson passed away July 23, 2016 at home in Oracle at the age of 84.

  He was born and raised in Oracle, Arizona. He attended elementary school in Oracle. As a young man, he was a truck driver/ore hauler for the 3-C Mine and Copper Creek. He attended high school in Florence, AZ.

  He was drafted into the Army and served as a paratrooper. He was employed by Magma Copper Co., and retired after 40 years.

  He loved to hunt, camp, fish, and tell stories. He never met a stranger. He was a master of all skills. He also loved to cook, especially outdoors. He was always there for his family. His favorite saying that we will never forget was, “Don’t worry about the little things, they will take care of themselves.”

  He was preceded in death by his two wives.

  Henry leaves behind 19 children, 52 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, 7 1/2 great-great-grandchildren, many many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by significant other Sylvia Viramontes; and his brothers and sisters, Joe and Lee Pierson, Frank and Dora Pierson, Annie and Terry Nelson, Maggie and Carl Riggs, Peter and Rhonda Pierson, and Tom and Sally Pierson. He will be greatly missed.

  Funeral services were held Friday, July 29, at Saint Catalina Catholic Church in Catalina. Graveside services are pending.
