Superior – Recently, the Superior Head Start class took a walking field trip to the Resolution Copper Company Office. During their visit, the children viewed a video, “From Ore to More”, and were given a presentation by Resolution Copper Company’s Geologists.

Afterward, the children were split into two groups and took turns seeing, touching, feeling and holding different types of rocks. They also took turns holding a “copper lightning” rod. Questions were asked and answered by the children, geologists and Resolution Copper's Community Liaison.

Next, the children listened to a story about mining, before receiving a copy of the book, for their personal library, and a goody bag that contained pencils, erasers, plastic helmets and fruit juice.

To finish the field trip the children raised their hands in thanks, indicating their joy using the science and math, computer software, grocery store stand, toy cash register and other various math and science items purchased with grants provided by Resolution Copper Company to Superior Head Start – Pinal Gila Community Child Services, Inc.
