Hayden and Ray back to school information

It’s that time of year again. You know the time: the one that students dread and parents relish. Yes, it’s back to school time in the Copper Basin. Both Hayden and Ray schools have released information regarding registration, fees and other important items for parents and students to know.

Hayden

Attention Hayden-Winkelman Unified School District (HWUSD) Student and Parents:

School registration for students, K- 12th grades, will be on Tuesday, July 24, – Thursday, July 26, noon – 6 p.m. in the Hayden High School Lobby. Any new students will need to bring birth certificates, immunization records and transcripts.

As you prepare for the new school year, please keep in mind the HWUSD’s adopted dress code policy, as it will strictly be enforced during the 2012-2013 school year. We encourage students to dr sst for success and in a manner that represents a serious approach to learning and work. Good taste is always in fashion and need not be expensive or trendy. The appearance of any student is the responsibility of the individual and his or her parent/legal guardian. Students should maintain an appearance that is not distracting to teachers or other students. Dress should not be detrimental to the educational process of the school. The following guidelines should be kept in mind:

Clothing that advertises alcohol, tobacco products, violence, foul language or that is sexually suggestive or represents gang affiliation is not permitted on campus.

Shoes or sandals must be worn on campus. House slippers are not appropriate. P.E., CTE classes and other school activities may require special footwear.

Clothing that is transparent, exposes a bare midriff, shoulders or back is not permitted on campus. Halter tops and spaghetti-strapped tops are not allowed on campus.

Shorts/pants must cover the waist and may not be shorter than an extended arm while standing. Bicycle shorts and other tight or revealing clothing may not be worn to class. Sagging, excessively baggy or hanging pants are not appropriate.

Student caps and hats are not allowed in the classroom.

In order to promote security for all and to be able to identify students, no hoods, snow caps, masks or dark glasses may be worn in school buildings.

Ray High School

Any new students will need to bring birth certificates, immunization records and transcripts and register by appointment obtained by calling the guidance office at 363-5513 x 304 or x 302. Please leave a message with your name and phone number, if needed.

For returning students, Freshman and Sophomores will register Wednesday, July 25, from 9 – 11 a.m. and Juniors and Seniors will register on July 26 from 9 – 11 a.m.

The fees for high school registration are as follows: high school registration cost is $20 per student; activity fees are $10 per activity; Band Festival fee is $25; Band Uniform Cleaning fee is $10; and the Chorus Festival fee is $10.

The Ray High School Bookstore opens on Monday, Aug. 6. Come check out the school supplies.

Parents are reminded to remember the school dress code when purchasing school clothes.

Ray High School Athletes, remember to get your physicals/athletic agreement/insurance info/concussion education completion turned into your Athletic Director or High School Office as soon as possible. All physicals and paperwork must be turned into the Athletic Director before you can participate in practice. Physical forms/Athletic Agreements can be picked up at the High School Office Concussion training can be found by going to www.aiaonline.org/ then go to: AIA Academy, then go to: Brainbook Read, test, print and sign the certificate for the Athletic Director

Closed Campus Plan will be in effect beginning the first day of school. Permission slips will be available in the office for students who are eligible to leave campus for lunch-time.
