Dr. Alexander B. White, M.D., Holocaust survivor and author of, “Holocaust Memoirs: Be A Mensch” visited students at Hambly Middle School on Tuesday, Dec. 17.

Students at Hambly Middle School study the Holocaust during their seventh grade year and members of the National Junior Honor Society have attended the Holocaust Memorial in Washington, D.C. Students listened to not only an emotional story but inspirational message.

Dr. White told his story as a 16-year-old experiencing the Holocaust. “Be a Mensch,” were the last words his father said to him before his death. Mensch means “a special, ideal human being: a person who portrays charity, kindness, tolerance, honesty and love of mankind.”
