Graduating radiology technology students keep Central Arizona College streak alive

APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. – All 20 of Central Arizona College’s radiologic technology students have passed the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists exam, keeping intact the 100 percent success rate unfurled by CAC students when the program began six years ago.

The news was broadcast live to the audience by Frank Mollica, the Director of Diagnostic Medical Imaging, during the fourth CAC Radiologic Technology Pinning Ceremony held on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Superstition Mountain Campus in Apache Junction.

It marked the first time the ceremony was held on the CAC location after the Superstition Mountain Campus renovation was completed in the summer of 2012.

“This is the fourth cohort to graduate from the radiology technology program and they have kept the tradition alive,” Mollica said, referencing the perfect record of passing the national exam. “These graduates all are radiologic technologists.”

The success of the CAC program radiates beyond the borders of the state of Arizona, and especially with the most recent graduating class which ranks among the Top 10 percent of cohorts throughout the country.

“I had a goal of having the best program in the state,” Mollica said, “But these students are the ones that have earned the recognition. They are now competing on the national level.”

In addition to the class and program success, Isaac Wahlquist and Jimmy Parent scored in the Top 5 percent in the country in their national board exams.

Wahlquist posted a 95 while Parent produced a 96, landing him in an elite group of the highest performing students across the United States.

Learn more about the CAC radiologic technology program when Frank Mollica, the director of the program, joins CACLive on Thursday, Jan. 31, live from the San Tan Valley on KQCKlive.com from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
