It is hard to believe, but the Golden Goose Thrift Shop has been in business 10 years this month.

What is even more remarkable is within the next few months they will have given $5 million back to local communities in the area.

The Golden Goose supports charitable programs run by SaddleBrooke Outreach and Catalina Community Services. Some of the services these two wonderful organizations provide include supporting the Catalina and Tri-Community Food Banks and the Kids’ Closet which provides clothing for school kids from Catalina to San Carlos. Other services benefit seniors, children, families and the homeless. One hundred percent of profits from the thrift shop go back into helping the community.

On April 15, 2013 the Golden Goose will begin celebrating their 10th Anniversary. Look for special sales during the week at the thrift shop and on the internet. You can bid on items on Ebay and Craigslist.

On Saturday, April 21, the Volunteer Appreciation event is held at the Golden Goose. It is an evening of dinner, dancing, and fun to show appreciation for the 400 plus volunteers that make the Goose the fabulous store that it is. The event is catered and music is provided by DJ Gus D’ Oldie and Miss Gina who donate their services for the event.

“We couldn’t do all this without our wonderful volunteers,” said Stephanie Urdiales, Manager of the Golden Goose. The volunteers come from Oro Valley, Catalina, Sun City Vistoso and SaddleBrooke. She would also like to send out a special “thank you” to the volunteers, donors and customers.

Visit the Golden Goose Thrift Shop and you will be amazed at their inventory. It is their third year in their 13,000 square foot building. They carry everything from sporting goods, exercise equipment, furniture, books, music, electronics, cameras, antiques and collectibles, clothing, shoes, jewelry, etc. You can find almost anything you need. It is quality merchandise at a fraction of retail cost. They are now accepting and selling building materials. On their south porch they have a selection of doors, screens, ceramic tile, garden tools, cabinets and barbecue grills.

“What other store do you know that has people lined up waiting for the doors to open?” one volunteer asked. It was true. There were around 85 people lined up when this reporter arrived for his appointment. The volunteer said there are usually about 150.

The Golden Goose is located at 15970 North Oracle Road in Catalina. Hours are Tuesday – Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Every third Friday is Moonlight Madness from 4 to 7 p.m. Donation drop off hours are Monday – Saturday 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. New volunteer orientation is every third Monday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. To volunteer or for information about the Golden Goose call (520) 825-9101.

Congratulations on your 10th Anniversary and thank you for the all the wonderful work you do to help our communities.
