Geraldine “Geri” Burke

Geraldine “Geri” Burke, 70, of Superior, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 in Apache Junction.

Geri was born Sept. 13, 1942 to Atilano and Sophia Olivas in Jerome, Arizona. Geri tirelessly served her community and church where she served at St. Frances of Assisi, Catholic Church in Superior as a Cursistas, the Fiesta Committee and a CCD teacher. Her hobbies included cooking, arts and crafts and making friends.

Geraldine is survived by her loving husband, Mark E. Burke of 40 years where she married him in Riverside, California; sister, Dolores (Frank) Ramirez; brother, Antilano (Anita) Olivas Jr., Earnie (Shila) Santos Jr., Andrea (Julian Esparsa) Santos and Natalie Moreno. Stepfather, Ernesto Santos, also survives her.

Geri is preceded in death by her mother, Sophia Castro Santos, and her only son, Eddie Burke.

Services were held on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with visitation at 9 a.m., Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m.
