Gerald Fred Haenel, 75, of San Manuel, Arizona passed away on May 28, 2015 at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

Gerald was born in Angola, New York on March 26, 1940 he was raised in Derby, NY and graduated from high school in Eden, NY in 1958. He was married in 1960 and devoted his life to his wife and to his five children. He worked for many years in the Aerospace industry primarily in Quality Control. He had an adventurous spirit leading him to leave New York and many different places across the country such as California, Pennsylvania, Colorado and Arizona. Jerry was a proud member of The Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Church in San Manuel Arizona.

He is survived by his wife, Carol (Burnett) Haenel; five children, Michael Haenel, Patricia (Haenel) Powell, June (Haenel) Niedomys, Fritz Haenel, and Madeline Haenel; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Barbara (Haenel) MacLeod, Karen (Haenel) Trembath; and one brother, Charles Haenel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred A. Haenel and Rita L. Haenel; and a sister, Nancy (Haenel) Gian.

His passion in life was baseball, as player, a coach and an avid fan. He also enjoyed bowling, golf and the outdoors. A super family man who loved his family to a fault, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. A man of integrity, faith, love and honesty, he will be missed by all.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Griffith Mortuary in Kearny, AZ and interment was on Saturday, June 6, at 1 p.m. at Valley View Cemetery in Mammoth, AZ.
