Long time Tri-Community resident Georgia Marie McKay passed away on Aug. 21, 2014 after a brave and courageous struggle with cancer. Georgia was an inspiration to her friends and loved ones, not only throughout her life, but especially the way she chose to live the last few months, with love, laughter and living each day to the fullest.

Georgia was born in Searchlight, Nevada on Sept. 25, 1931 to Jack and Mae Starr. She grew up in many mining towns throughout the west, but most of her life was spent in Eureka, Nevada where she met and married William (Bill) McKay. They were married in Ely, Nevada in October of 1948. They had four children, Binki (Jim) McNulty of Newcastle, WY, Bill (Becky) McKay of Gold Canyon, Arizona, Gina (Gary) Knight of Newcastle, WY and Donna (Julio) Garcia of Brighton, Colorado. Georgia was the loving grandmother to nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Everyone who knew Georgia knew the bond and love between her and her sister Donna Clements. Those who loved and knew Georgia will greatly miss her kindness and her beautiful spirit.

Georgia and Bill moved to Tiger, Arizona in 1948, then to Mammoth, finally settling in Oracle in 1960. She was active member of the Oracle Union Church, serving on the Board of Trustees for many years. A great lover of bridge and Mahjong, her family and friends. She served as volunteer at the Oracle Library for years. Georgia loved helping her fellow man and spending time with her family and friends. She was an accomplished artist and a published poet.

Services will be held at the Oracle Union Church on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Georgia’s request was donations be made to the Oracle Union Church, PO Box 381, Oracle, Arizona 85623.
