GCC seeking students for cosmetology, nail tech programs

Gila Community College Cosmetology Instructor, Patti Bocardo, welcomes new Nail Technician Instructor, Karen Hunter, who will join GCC beginning with the spring 2015 semester. The Gila Community College Cosmetology Academy announces a call for admissions meeting for those who want to start the Cosmetology Program or Nail Technician Program in the spring 2015 semester. The call for admissions meeting is on Saturday, November 15th at 3:00 p.m. at the Gila Community College Gila Pueblo Campus in room 522 and is essential for those students wishing to start this spring. The GCC Gila Pueblo Campus and Cosmetology Academy are both located at 8274 South Six Shooter Canyon Road in Globe.

Seats are limited for this coming spring to seven Cosmetology students and seven Nail Technician students. Admission is competitive and students must apply. Spring semester cosmetology classes begin January 6. Students will attend Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with an occasional Monday. The programs feature a certificate pathway and an Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS), both of which will prepare students to successfully complete the Arizona State Board of Cosmetology Examination in order to become a licensed cosmetologist or nail technician. Sixteen hundred hours of training are required before sitting for the cosmetologist exam.

Application packets are available at the GCC Cosmetology Academy, the GCC Gila Pueblo Campus Administration Office, or will be available at the meeting on November 15th.
