Students from Ms. Gavre’s fourth grade class at John F. Kennedy are asking for your help this holiday season with a special project for active duty military personnel.Gavre had given her students a writing assignment to write about what they would ask for if they were granted three wishes. Joshua Marquez a student in her classroom said he wanted to start and organization to send packages to the troops.“My aid and I wanted to help him with this wish and make it a classroom project” said Gavre.
Marquez became the chairperson for the classroom project and has been motivating his classmates to bring in supplies. This project is very important to him because his dad was killed in Afghanistan just before he was born.
The students in Ms. Gavre’s class were all very excited to participate in the project and show their appreciation for the troops.
The class will be accepting donations until Monday, Nov. 26, 2012. They are collecting a variety of items to send from non-perishable food and snacks, toiletries, entertainment items and other miscellaneous items such as socks and linens.
