Florence– Florence Copper Inc. is replacing one of the 31 existing Point of Compliance (“POC”) ambient water quality monitoring wells with a new POC well to be drilled nearby. The existing well was completed in 1995 and has provided quarterly water quality monitoring for more than 16 years. It was recently identified as needing to be abandoned and replaced. There is no adverse effect to the groundwater.
“This is a good example of the regulatory process working to keep the aquifer safe and protected,” said Dan Johnson, Florence Copper vice president and general manager. “Florence Copper recognizes that replacing the existing well with a new POC well is the best solution and ensures continuous water quality monitoring at the site.”
The new POC replacement well will be completed before the next round of scheduled water quality sampling and will be constructed by a licensed Arizona drilling company.
