Kearny –  The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management Southeast District has announced an  upcoming Firewise Assessor Course. This free course will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 20-21, from approximately 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Constitution Hall, 912-C Tilbury Rd. in Kearny. The second day will be a shorter day, based on the number of houses to assess.

The two day course is both for professionals and community members who are interested in learning tactics for learning fire mitigation tactics for property owners, fire ecology, property assessment, and fire behavior. The first day will be classroom based and the second day will be in the field, evaluating properties. By course end, individuals will be qualified to evaluate properties for Firewise and be registered with the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management.

Participants should wear long pants and closed-toe shoes for the day in the field, and bringing a lunch is recommended. Other than that, the requirements are to show up and be eager to learn.

To RSVP or to ask questions, please contact your district Firewise Coordinator, Mayra Moreno by sending an email to mmoreno@dffm.az.gov.
