Fantastic Fourth of July in Superior

Fireworks brightened the night sky over the Resolution Tailings on the 4th of July.

The Superior Youth Council organized the annual Fourth of July Festivities in Superior.  The day consisted of free swimming and lots of free goodies like hot dogs, snow cones, cotton candy, watermelon and jumping castles.  The Superior High School Volleyball team hosted a corn hole and horseshoe tournament and Fiesta Queen Candidate Lauren Lopez hosted a hamburger fundraiser.

The Superior Optimist Club, Red Bear Outfitters and Veterans of Foreign Wars organizations also lent a hand to help host some of the events of the day along with many local businesses who contributed funds for the event.

The Superior Fire Department set the skies ablaze with the Town of Superior sponsored fireworks show.  Many shows in the region had been cancelled due to the extreme fire danger. The Superior show, though, went on without a problem due to the ongoing support of Resolution Copper, who allowed the town to shoot the fireworks from the tailings site.
