Esperanza G. Lucero

  Esperanza G. Lucero, 102, a Fort Bayard, NM, resident entered eternal rest peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017 at Fort Bayard Medical Center. 

  She was born Feb. 15, 1915 in Santa Rita, NM to Narciso Garcia and Isabel Villasenor.  She is survived by six daughters, Gloria Acosta (Alex) of San Manuel, AZ; Naomi Apodaca of Tucson, AZ; Teresa Martinez of Silver City; Yolanda Ramirez (Eddie) of Los Lunas, NM; Loretta Benavidez (Gary) of Silver City; Denise Juarez (Ernie) of Las Vegas, NV; 18 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 50 great-great-great grandchildren. 

  She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Pedro B. Lucero; one daughter, Patricia Muñoz; grandson, Michael Apodaca; five brothers, Arturo, Richard, David, Edmond, and Narciso Garcia; two sisters, Juanita Gomez, and Genoveva Henderson. 

  Visitation was held Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9-9:30 a.m. at Terrazas Funeral Chapels in Santa Clara, NM, with the Holy Rosary at 9:30 a.m. with Dr. Gilbert Arizaga reciting.  The funeral liturgy followed at 11 a.m. at Hurley Infant Jesus Shrine with Father Abraham Soliz officiating.  Concluding service and interment were at Memory Lane cemetery.  Pallbearers were Peter Acosta, Eddie Apodaca, Robbie Ramirez, Brian Ramirez, Roy Martinez Jr., Aric Ray, Phillip Ray, and Daniel Vindiola.
