, 93, passed away March 26, 2014 at his home in Kearny with his family at his side.
Ernesto was born Nov. 7, 1920, in Safford, AZ. When he heard that the United States had been attacked (Pearl Harbor), he volunteered for service in World War II. Ernesto was assigned to the 8th Air Force where he served from 1942 to 1945.
He retired from American and Smelting and Refining Co. as a well respected foreman.
Ernesto also served as president of the Kearny Sheriff’s Posse, always willing to lend a hand since he was knowledgeable in the training and minor doctoring of animals.
He is survived by daughter, Carmen; sons, Ernesto, Pilar and Marty; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Guadalupe, and son, Carlos.
Services will be held April 5, 2014, at Superior Funeral Home, 379 S. Ray Rd., Superior. Viewing is at 9:30 a.m. and the service at 10 a.m. Interment will follow.
