Dry Heat: Obama Warned Us

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

In 2010, during his State of the Union Address, President Obama warned the American people about some of the implications of the Supreme Court’s decision in the case involving Citizen’s United. Obama said “Last week the Supreme Court reversed a century of law to open the floodgates for special interests – including foreign corporations – to spend without limits in our elections. While, I don’t think American elections should be bankrolled by America’s most powerful interests, or worse, by foreign entities.”

We are now seeing his warning coming true.  It is becoming clearer that there was Russian interference in our presidential election. Whether or not there was collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia remains to be seen but there has been an awful lot of lying going on by Trump campaign people and some of his cabinet members. For those of you that are still dumb enough to believe the Mueller investigation is a hoax, tell me why Steve Bannon has been told by the Whitehouse not to answer questions by the Congressional Committee.

Citizen’s United has made it easier for corporations and foreign governments to influence our elections and politicians. It has allowed more and more Dark Money to come into the political arena. Dark Money is expenditures by non-profit groups whose primary function is not supposed to be political activity. These groups do not have to disclose the donors of these funds. Unethical or corrupt individuals, organizations and corporations will take advantage of this. The United States now has the most corrupt, dysfunctional government that money can buy.  Resist!

I have been given the opportunity to express my opinion and viewpoints on politics, national, state, and local issues as well as life in general. I hope to inform you as well as entertain you, make you smile or make you mad. I will use humor, sarcasm and occasionally anger to express my views. My intention is to hold politicians accountable sometimes bringing some heat on them and if my views make you angry or hot, remember that like my humor, it is a dry heat.
