Did leaders discuss acid truck emergencies?

I find it very curious that Curis Resources participated in the Area Leaders Meet to Discuss Emergency Plans event considering how they try so hard to convince the public that their operation is so safe.

I see flooding was discussed; but, what about the many trucks, filled with acid, traversing Hunt Highway and Route 79 each day, should there be an accident causing an acid spill.Vapors would spread across the area.I asked this question of the previous Chief of Police of Florence and the Fire Department about six months ago and was told that they could not handle the situation.

I was told: “there are only 2 hazmat trained firemen” and “the police would have to call in police from other areas, which would take at least 1/2-hour to respond.” All of this when time is of the essence?

There are more types of emergencies than floods, which need to be addressed. I would like to see some information from all the emergency officials who participated in the meeting to give the public information on how they would handle such a situation and how that would effect residents as well as businesses.
