Kearny – Safety experts agree the single most important step toward ensuring a woman’s personal safety is making the conscious decision to refuse to be a victim. The Defensive Divas and the Well Armed Woman Copper Basin Chapter of Kearny will be hosting the Refuse to Be a Victim seminar at the Copper Valley Christian Center located at 305 Croydon Road in Kearny.

Women stand a much better chance of preventing criminal attack if they develop a safety plan before they need it. That is why the Refuse to Be a Victim crime prevention seminar, a program of the National Rifle Association, was developed.

The seminar teaches easy-to-understand methods to increase awareness and prevent criminal confrontation. In just four hours, attendees will get the tools they need to develop their own personal safety strategy, including information about the psychology of the criminal mind, home and phone security, automobile and travel security, personal and technological security, self defense devices, training options and more.

The event is on July 19 starting at 5:30 p.m. with a registration fee of $25.

The deadline for registration is June 26. To register or get more information call Marti Stonecipher at (520)400-8914 or Renee Ramsey at 602-920-3765, or send an email to copperbasin.twaw@gmail.com.
