The defending Division V state champion Superior softball team found itself atop the first rankings release of the season last week and the Lady Panthers remained the No. 1 team in the state in the most recent rankings that were released earlier this week.
After Telesis Prep forfeited the scheduled Mar. 29 game, the Lady Panthers defeated Mogollon last Friday, 15 – 2.
Senior shortstop Gabby Salcido had her biggest game to date after going 3-for-3, including a double and two homeruns, with four RBI in the Lady Panthers’ 12th win of the season. Phalicitee Thomas had two hits, one of them a double, and drove in two runs. Keanna Torres, a senior, contributed with a hit and two RBI.
Ivie Lopez earned her seventh win of the season, pitching a five-inning complete game. The Lady Panthers’ ace allowed two runs – none earned – on one hit with a walk and five strikeouts.
