Debra Kay Funderburg, 53, joined the Lord on April 30, 2015, after losing her battle with cancer. Debra passed away very peacefully at her home in Oracle.

She was born in Cottonwood, AZ, to parents Mary and Ivan Funderburg. Shortly after Debra was born, her family moved to Tucson where she grew up and lived most of her life. In 2005, Debra moved to Oracle. She always wanted to live in a small town; she ended up falling in love with Oracle and all the people.

Debra went to the University of Arizona for a degree in Graphic Arts. She was an art teacher and worked with special needs students for the Tucson Unified School District. That work became her passion. Debra loved helping people and making them laugh; she was a very caring, giving and loving person.

Debra loved to rock climb when she was younger. She loved camping, fishing, tubing down the Salt River, being next to the ocean and the Grand Canyon. She loved spending time with her family, her loving husband-to-be Andy Miller, her best friends Pattie and Jeff, all her friends and most of all her daughter, Sedona Funderburg.

It was Debra’s wish for her ashes to be laid to rest in Sedona, Arizona, in the beautiful red mountains, where she and Andy planned to spend the rest of their lives. Debra will always be in our hearts and be very deeply missed, but never forgotten. We will treasure the memories we had with her and thank her for letting us be a part of her beautiful life.

She is survived by her beautiful daughter, Sedona Funderburg; loving husband, Andy Miller; brothers, Bruce (Leanna) Funderburg and David Funderburg; sister, Gloria Funderburg; parents, Mary and Ivan Funderburg; brothers-in-law, Thom (Diana) Miller, Dan (Carissa) Miller and Jerry (Letha) Miller; nephews, Josh Funderburg, Zacary Miller, Josh Miller, Jerry Michel Miller, Thomas Miller, Seth Miller, Jacob Miller and Levi Miller; nieces, Hiedi Funderburg, Rhnea Funderburg, Holly Miller and Rachel Miller; and great-niece, Sofia.

Memorial services will be held at the Living Word Chapel in Oracle on May 16, 2015, at 11 a.m. All are welcome to celebrate Debra’s beautiful life. The family will also have a private gathering.
