CVRMC would like to welcome a new General Surgeon Dr. Thomas “Randy” Hansen to the area. Dr. Hansen is a Diplomat with the National Board of Medical Examiners and is also Board Certified with the American Board of Surgery. He earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology and his Medical Doctor degree from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He completed his Internship and Residency at the Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix where he also served as Chief Resident of General Surgery.

“I believe in a compassionate and caring visit and want to ensure that every patient is educated about their disease process and the procedures that we anticipate doing,” states Dr. Hansen regarding patient service. “My goal is to answer any and all questions and listen to the patient. I want to treat my patients with the same care and concern that I would expect on a visit to the doctor’s office or the hospital.”

Dr. Hansen’s advanced medical education includes Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release, Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, Procedures for Prolapse and Hemorrhoids, Nissen Fundoplication, Advanced Bariatric Surgery, and Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band Placement. He has had extensive training in minimally invasive surgery, soft tissue hand surgery and many other surgical procedures.

Serving in the United States Army Reserve since 1977, Dr. Hansen retired in 2014 with 37 years of active and reserve duty. He was deployed on 4 missions including Baghdad, Iraq with a forward surgical team and Camp Arifjan, Kuwait with a combat support hospital as part of the Medical Corp.

Computers, competitive amateur ballroom dancing, SCUBA diving, and technical support for Microsoft Gaming are activities Dr. Hansen enjoys outside of the operating room.
