Diana Tunis has been blessed with a natural creative ability in the world of art. Encircled by artists her entire life, she is a photographer, seamstress and sculptor and her painting, “On a Carousel,” will be sold to the highest bidder at the CVRMC Foundation Art and Wine Auction on Nov. 3.
“Faces are one of my favorite subjects,” Tunis states with an undertone of hesitation because there are so many mediums and areas of interest that pull on her numerous talents. “There is something about eyes and capturing the expression in them that intrigues me.”
Tunis spent her early childhood growing up in San Carlos and loves to paint people of the Apache Nation and the southwest landscape. Tunis was an art teacher at High Desert Middle School for the past five years and has a future desire to teach an art class for children and adults at the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts (CVCA).
Tunis enjoys working with and designing costumes and sets for the children involved in the Summer Youth Musical Theater program. She created and made all the Victorian costumes worn in the play, “Is He Dead,” performed at the CVCA.
This multi-talented artist is married to Bob D. Tunis and they have two children, Samantha who is a graphic designer living in Chandler and the mother of their only grandchild, and Paul, who is a college professor living in New York.
The CVRMC Foundation would like to thank Tunis for giving her time and expertise to many different organizations within our community. Her painting, “On a Carousel,” will be for auction along with many other beautiful pieces created by many local talented artists at the Gila County Fairgrounds Nov. 3 at 5p.m.
The CVRMC Foundation raises funds in support of Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center to purchase equipment and technology specifically for patient care and staff training which strengthens the healthcare services in our communities.
A silent and live auction will be held along with several wine tasting stations, a beer garden, photos by Come Alive Photography, and a fun carnival atmosphere.
Tickets are now on sale for $10 or $12 at the door.
