With a ceremonial shovel of dirt Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center celebrated the future of health care in the Copper Corridor on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015. CVRMC welcomed over 300 community members from Globe, Miami, San Carlos, Roosevelt, Superior, Kearny, Winkelman, Hayden, and Young to witness the groundbreaking for CVRMC’s new expansion project. The expansion will include a new Family Birth Center, along with new Med/Surg rooms, a Cath Lab, and a pharmacy.
CVRMC’s Evelyn Vargas welcomed the crowd. “Today marks the beginning of a new age of health care in our region,” said Vargas. Copper painted shovels were presented to community groundbreakers by the directors, managers and support staff of CVRMC. Those receiving a shovel included varies companies from around the Copper Corridor, the Cattle Growers Association, educators, fire personnel, emergency medical services, air and ground ambulance services, county health, police, sheriff, city and town leaders, nursing facilities, spiritual leaders, medical board of directors , volunteers and the media.
Chief Executive Officer of CVRMC Neal Jensen also addressed the crowd. “It is with gratitude that I stand here today as we embark on a major expansion to bring each of you, our families, friends and neighbors a patient-centered health care facility,” said Jensen. “Today marks the beginning of a new physical structure for our medical center but you will continue to see and feel the same excellent care from our team of dedicated physicians, nurses, technicians and staff who are working every day to provide compassionate, high quality care.”
