Gila Community College’s Biology Instructor, Mr. Burk, and Medical Assistant and Nursing Assistant first year students are celebrating their first successes in their college careers; they successfully completed fall semester and are taking on the challenges of spring semester.
CVIT students from Globe, Miami , Superior and San Carlos are taking advantage of tuition free postsecondary Career and Technical Education thanks to a wonderful cooperative partnership between Cobre Valley Institute of Technology (CVIT) and Gila Community College (GCC).
“We are very proud of our students and wish them the very best and continuing success. CVIT students are very committed to their studies and spend much time in school but the benefits are great. After graduation they are ready to enter the workforce as skilled technicians and/or continue their college education to earn Associate and Bachelor’s degrees,” said Pete Guzman, Superintendent of CVIT.
Medical Assistants earn from $10.46 to $20.13 hourly and Nursing Assistants earn from $15.97 to $48.34 hourly (gathered from 2010 Occupational Outlook Handbook at www.bls.gov). A CNA license is a prerequisite to the Register Nursing Program.
