During the final weeks of Dec., on into the new year, a bright light is visible from outside the east entrance of the BTA’s visitor center, early on sunny mornings. This flashing light which greets visitors as they begin walking the main trail, which is also visible to those driving along Highway 60, near milepost 224 during the summertime, is the sunlight being reflected off the large cross that stands on a cliff just below the peak of Picket Post Mountain.
Superior residents, who have photographed the cross or the light shining from same, or who have information as to who and how it was erected, are invited to share what they know with our readers.
Tell us your story or email your own “cross flash’ photo to editor@minersunbasin.com and we’ll post them on the Copperarea Facebook page.
