Coronado National Forest Managed Recreation Sites Temporarily Closed Until Further Notice

Tucson– Due to the lapse in federal government funding, managed recreation sites and offices of the Coronado National Forest will be closed until further notice.  Undeveloped trailheads will remain open and trail and road use across the Forest is not restricted at this time.   All trailheads and vista points along Catalina Highway are open.  All wilderness areas are open.  Managed Recreation Sites closed include the following:

Camp Rucker Group Site
Cypress Campground
Rucker Forest Camp Campground
Sunny Flat Campground
Stewart Campground
Idlewilde Campground
Cochise Stronghold Campground
Rustler Park Campground (closed for construction)

Nogales Ranger District
Pena Blanca Lake
All Day Use Areas in Madera Canyon
Red Rock Picnic Area
White Rock Campground
Bog Springs Campground
Kent Springs Rental Cabin
Kentucky Camp Rental Cabin and Site

Sierra Vista Ranger District
Parker Canyon Campground
Reef Campground
Ramsey Vista Campground
Brown Canyon Ranch
Boat Ramp Facilities at Parker Canyon

Safford Ranger District
Noon Creek Campground
Round-the-Mountain Campground
Upper and Lower Arcadia Campground
Twilight Campground
Shannon Campground

Santa Catalina Ranger District

Sabino Canyon parking lot, shuttle, and Visitor Center

Regular bicycle restrictions in Sabino Canyon will remain in effect during lapse in funding for pedestrian safety.  Hours of operation and all regulations affecting the vista points along Catalina Highway will remain in effect.

All Forest Service restrooms in Sabino Canyon and on Catalina Highway have been closed (including those at trailhead sites though parking areas are open).

All Forest Service Operated picnic and campground facilities: Molino Basin Picnic site*, Gordon Hirobyashi Campground, Cypress Picnic site, Middle Bear Picnic site, Chihuahua Pine Picnic site, General Hitchcock Campground, Palisade Visitor Center, Box Elder Picnic site, Inspiration Rock Picnic site, Alder Picnic site, Loma Linda Picnic site, and Marshall Gulch Picnic site*.

* Trailhead parking at Molino Basin and Marshall Gulch sites will remain open but adjacent picnic sites have been signed and flagged closed.

All Concessionaire Operated campground facilities are closed: Rose Canyon Campground, Showers Point Group Campground, Spencer Canyon Campground, and Whitetail Group Campground.

List of Open facilities in the Catalina Mountains

Ski Valley and Catalina State Park are currently open.  Emergency 911 phone station is open at Palisades parking lot.  All dispersed camping sites in Bigelo, Bear Wallow and Incinerator Ridge will remain open.  All trails and roads in Redington Pass are open (with exception of areas previously closed for remedial cleanup of shooting sites).
