The Copper Corridor Economic Development Coalition accepted a check from the Pinal County Board of Supervisors for $50,000 at its meeting last week in Aravaipa. Pinal County Supervisor Pete Rios along the the Pinal County Economic Development Manager Tim Knavel attended the recent meeting to present the check.

The CCEDC board is comprised of local community, government and business leaders from the communities of Superior, Kearny, Hayden, Winkelman, Oracle, Mammoth, San Manuel, Globe, Miami, Dudleyville and Aravaipa.

The Coalition uses those funds for economic development efforts for the region. Projects funded by the county funding include operation of the Mobile Visitor Center, Business Success Center and further promotion of the region to potential businesses and investors.

“The CCEDC is proud of Pinal County’s continued support in our efforts to grow the regional economy,” said CCEDC President Michael Carnes.

“In my opinion, this region is the most beautiful part of Pinal County.  It has also been the area hardest hit by volatility in the commodities market with the opening and closing of mining operations,” said Pete Rios.  “Pinal County supports economic development directly through our staff and also by working with economic development foundations and coalitions who are often the ‘boots on the ground’ helping local businesses grow, expand and flourish.”

“We know that the county’s economic prosperity is linked to the opportunities that are created in all of our communities, which is why I am pleased to present this contribution on behalf of the Board to support the Copper Corridor Economic Development Coalition,” Rios said.

The Copper Corridor meets the third Friday of every month at the CAC Aravaipa Campus. Meetings begin at 8:30am. For more information on the Copper Corridor Economic Development Coalition you can visit them online at: www.coppercorridor.org.
