Softball– The Lady Cats won the Noel Morris Softball Tournament which took place last weekend at Valley Union High School. The Cats were one of six teams competing in the two-day tournament, including Valley Union, Pima, Ft. Thomas, St. David and Bisbee. Currently ranked third in the state, according to the most recent rankings released by azcentral.com, the Lady Cats figure to be one of only a handful of teams who can be considered state title contenders. Last weekend’s tournament provided an opportunity for head coach Rikki Galka to get her less experienced players some valuable playing time. Galka knows this year’s team has a chance to be special, saying, “I am excited about our Bearcat team.” Upcoming schedule: Mar. 13 double-header vs. San Carlos (4 p.m. & 6 p.m.).
