Copper Basin Chamber lists deadlines for 2013

A new year has begun with many annual activities that we all look forward to, but with that comes the deadlines.

First and foremost is the change of the Pioneer Days date to March 21 to 24. Since Easter Holy Week is the last week of March, we had to move our festival dates up one week. Frazier Shows was glad to accommodate us with the change as it helped them as well as us.

With the Queen contest being one of the biggest items on the Pioneer Days agenda, the first meeting for Junior Queen and Queen Contestants will be Monday, Jan. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Pinal County Building in Kearny.

Girls attending Hayden and Ray Junior High and High Schools are eligible to run for this honor. Drop by the County building for the rules. Parents must attend and be active supporters of their daughters’ participation in this activity.

Friday, Feb. 1 is the deadline for Citizen of the Year nominations. The letters have to be signed and must list all the reasons that the person should be nominated for the honor.

Remember that he or she must be an active resident of the Copper Basin Area. No former COY’s may be nominated nor can a former COY nominate someone. The COY Dinner will be held at Rosalia’s on Monday, Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m.

Copper Basin Idol Auditions will be held Friday, Feb. 8 at the Pinal County Building. Forms are available at the Chamber office in the Pinal County Building.

Pioneer Day Vendors deadline for submission of applications is Feb. 22. Applications are already arriving and spaces are being assigned as applications are received.

Anyone interested in a booth must get their information in as soon as possible. Myra Fontes Warren is out and about getting ads for the t-shirts. Individuals may purchase ads also which consists of a one line name.

The theme this year is Legends and Lore which makes for another easy theme for a float. It is not too early to start planning your float. It is our goal to make this years parade longer than the year before.

If you love meeting and greeting people we are looking for people to work the front gate at Pioneer Park. Think about it and look for more information in two weeks.
