Conflict resolution?

In theMinertwo weeks ago Mr. Ron Thompson does some curious chest thumping over what he calls “conflict resolution” with a nearby boys camp.  This past week he declares the “anxiety” and “trepidation” – presumably his own along with a handful of others – have all been “mediated”.   Recall that Mr. Thompson was an instigator of the attempted bus blockade of migrant children last July.  Recall that Mr. Thompson, backed by national anti-immigrant groups and media outlets, tried to turn Oracle into another Murietta, CA (then typecast as the hate capitol of the USA).

In pursuit of an extremist, anti-immigrant political agenda, he helped trump up a blizzard of threats to our town that included gang-related, disease-infested mayhem.  The blockade flopped but for a time his little group made life more difficult for those migrant children, the professionals of Sycamore Canyon Academy who care for them, and the many Oracle residents who welcome and support them.

Taking credit for “mediating” a self created conflict is better than continuing to instigate actions intended to disrupt young and vulnerable lives.

In Oracle and the Tri-Community we are blessed with a generous and caring population.  Most of us, thank heavens, don’t greet the temporary residence of migrant children and youth with “anxiety” and “trepidation” much less as a threat to our well being.  Rather we have and will continue to respond with open minds, open hearts, and the practice of generosity.
