Citizen of The Year, Women’s Expo and Pioneer Days 2016

The deadline for submitting nominations for Citizen of the Year has been extended  until Feb. 4 and letters may be mailed to Box 206, Kearny or delivered to the Chamber office.  The letter nominating  the person for COY must include the name of the nominee and all the activities this person has accomplished in 2015 and years prior.  The nominee must be a citizen of the Copper Basin area.  Husband and wife teams may be nominated but not groups.  Letters not signed will be eliminated.   The Citizen of the Year dinner will be held Monday, Feb.29.

Join Martina Burnam and Maria Munoz as they host the Women’s Expo to be held at the Mini auditorium at Hayden High School, Saturday, Feb 27.  This is an ever popular activity and gets bigger every year.  This is a chance for local entrepreneurs to set up a booth and sell their  products.   The Pioneer Days Queen candidates will hold their fashion show at this event and there will be door prizes all day long at 15 to 30 minute intervals.  A concession stand will be available.  Now is the time to apply for booth space or volunteer as a special speaker, musician or whatever talent you might have or organization you might want to introduce to the community.

Spirit of the West is the Theme for Pioneer Days and will be featured on the T shirts and posters.  The event will be held Wednesday through Saturday, March 23-26.  We realize that it is Easter Week and is the only week that Frazier Shows could come as they complete their Arizona fairs and head out on their spring route across the states.  Pioneer Days Queen candidates have already started to meet and will soon be  getting out and about selling the tickets for the drawing which will be on Wednesday as the event opens.  Applications are available for booths.  An Entertainment chairperson is needed as well as a parade committee.

Spirit of the West is another great theme for parade entries.  Put on your volunteer hat and help out during this annual event.
