TUCSON, Ariz. – The Canyon Del Oro (CDO) Key Club and Oro Valley Kiwanis teamed up last Saturday to give a very special Christmas present to children selected from the Helen Keeling Elementary School (Keeling Elementary).

Halie Blauser, president of the CDO Key Club said that, “A large percentage of the

children at this school are below the poverty level. The kids have to qualify financially and demonstrate good grades toparticipate in the program.

We have about two hours with each child to buy them their clothes, see Santa and get a free breakfast from McDonalds. We provide this program to these kids twice a year. It’s very rewarding and makes such a difference for them. They are very thankful, plus they are just so cute!”

The children were transported on a bus to J.C. Penney’s, where each child received $155 to spend on clothes.

The CDO Key Club is an international organization, led by students, with a mission to provide opportunities for its members to build character and develop leadership skills through service to others.

The Oro Valley Kiwanis are the local branch of a global organization dedicated to changing the world through encouraging members to help one community at a time.
